Mystic Christmas Boat Parade

The 2020 holiday lighted boat parade will be held on saturday november 28 2020 from 2 pm to 7 pm on the mystic river.

Mystic ct concerns over covid 19 and safety for the public have led the greater mystic chamber of commerce to forgo its annual downtown holiday celebrations during thanksgiving weekend. Following santa arriving by tugboat and the lighting of the mystic river park christmas tree spectators flood both sides of the mystic river to see the decorated and decked out boats pass by. The parade starts down the mystic river around 6 20pm and returns to the mystic river park where spectators and judges gather. Every july mystic seaport hosts the antique and classic boat rendezvous one of my favorite weekends of the year.

You can watch from both sides of the river as the decorated and glowing procession of ships float past. This is followed by the much anticipated mystic lighted boat parade. Residents of mystic island get together once a year to celebrate christmas in july by holding a small boat parade up and down the lagoons. Santa arrives by tugboat the tree lighting and the mystic lighted boat parade will resume next year when the pandemic is past.

Decorated vessels parade down the mystic river at 6 20pm and return to the mystic river park where spectators and judges gather. Before the 17th annual boat parade starts the christmas tree lighting is at 6. It usually involves lots of cool boats going through the drawbridge all weekend followed by a parade on sunday with an announcer in the park telling us the history of each boat as they go by.
